Dear Child Advocate:

I am pleased to announce that on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, the Judge David’s 15th Community In-Service will be held. As always, we need your support to ensure the continuing success of this very important event. This year’s theme is “Child & Adolescent Sexual Abuse: Uniting A Community to Break the Silence”

Our Keynote Speaker is former Miss America, Marilyn Van Derber. Mrs. Van Derber will share her poignant personal story of healing from childhood sexual abuse and discuss the importance of intervention and prevention. She will be available following her presentation for one on one interaction and book signing.  Following this powerful presentation, Child Advocacy Center Susie’s Place Executive Director Emily Perry and Associate Director Allison Creekmore will lead separate First Responder sessions, one specifically for law enforcement, a second for community members: teachers, youth workers, parents, all of us.  Finally, we will round out the morning with another insightful presentation from our own Boone County Youth. The kids will share their point of view on this significant and life changing issue, challenges faced through social media, and how we can help protect and assist them in navigating such a difficult issue.

The In-Service will again be held in the Witham Health Services Pavilion located at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds, please note the new times: 7:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

This is an important event for law enforcement, teachers, community youth workers, clergy, parents, EVERYONE!  We need you there! Please make plans to attend.

Please RSVP by SEPTEMBER 9, 2015. Registration is $45. PLEASE NOTE that due to overwhelming response, registration on the day of the conference is no longer offered. Registrations postmarked or received after September 9, 2015 will be $65.00. Registration fee includes a full breakfast buffet and morning break service.

We look forward to seeing you; thank you for all that you do for Boone County Youth!

J. Jeffrey Edens, Judge
